We have been in the van for over 2 months now. We are settling into #vanlife and the ebb and flow of the day. Our mornings are relaxed and easy going. Our choice of where to go and what to see is totally open: one day it’s a beautiful hike, the next it’s a stroll downtown in a new city.
We have met a lot of interesting people along the way so far. There are so many people living the freedom of van life but their reasons for hitting the road are all different.
Each night, we have to plan where to sleep. It varies depending on if we're in the city or in the wilderness. Being in the wilderness is always number one, but that doesn't always work out. We could spend 4 days in the desert, only seeing a handful of people or we could be in Las Vegas amongst the hustle and bustle.
Our dog Caeden has handled our adventure great so far. He experiences everything we do; new landscapes, friends and situations. Fortunately, it's a reasonable temperature outside, so he can relax in the van for short stints.
We have driven the Pacific Coast Highway, seen the Redwoods and been around the crazy LA life. We have woken up to sand dunes and pure silence in the Mojave Desert and have walked the Vegas strip. All these things have lead us to the realization that we need balance in our travels so we don't get stagnant in one situation or way of thinking too long. We want to be exposed to new ideas and different ways of looking at the same scenery. This is our adventure so we can pace it the way we want. It allows us time to be creative, to enjoy the moment and be thankful for our time together.
Leading up to the holidays, we wish everyone the courage to follow their passions and take the necessary steps to make them happen.
